Kick-Start Your Life: Where Do You Get Inspiration?

InspirationInspiration – no idea comes from nothing. Every path you choose to go down, and every journey you embark upon, is inspired by someone or something.

Do you feel stuck in a rut and can’t seem to find a way out? Have you been plodding along in a job you hate because it’s easier to stay in your comfort zone than to look for something else? Are you struggling to start or complete that special project you’ve always wanted to do? Do you feel that excitement and passion are missing in your life? Maybe it’s time for some inspiration to give you the kick-start you need to get moving.

Choose your source

There are a myriad of books out there full of inspiring stories and characters – everything from personal development books, to autobiographies, to epic novels. Go to your local bookstore, library or online today and seek out something you can identify with and learn from. You may pick up on particular phrases or quotes that you can personally relate to. Write these down and read them on a regular basis to keep you on track.

Movies can be a great source of inspiration because they have the ability to engage you on a very emotional level. Some examples are: Rocky, The Shawshank Redemption, The Pursuit of Happyness, and Chariots of Fire. You’ll have your own favourites. Set aside some quiet time for yourself to absorb the messages in these films.

Inspiration may be closer than you think

The greatest inspirations, however, are other people. And you usually don’t need to look that far to find them. Although famous achievers can be wonderful inspirations, it can be quite difficult to learn from them personally!

Think about some of the people in your family, social circle or work environment, and identify specific achievements or characteristics of individuals that you’d like to aspire to. Instead of being envious or bitter toward them, use them as inspiration. You don’t need to tell the person what you’re doing. Observe them and ask questions to find out how they achieved their success. If you’re comfortable with this person, by all means let them know that they inspire you. You may even want to ask them to be a mentor.

Life coaching should be an inspiring experience too.

Don’t wait for inspiration – get out there and find it for yourself!
